Founder of Schnitzel Garten to open new lunch spot downtown

A slice of Germany is coming to Downtown Boise.

A new European deli is set to open early next year, led by the original owner of Schnitzel Garten in Eagle. According to owner Courtland Hugues, his new concept, Schnitzel Fritz, will feature a lunch-focused menu that includes baguette sandwiches, schnitzel sandwiches, pastries, and salads, along with a selection of bottled wines and beers.

Courtland Hugues sold the Schnitzel Garten three years ago to his partner, Elena Hugues, due to health reasons. He has remained involved in the business, occasionally serving as the repairman, overseeing the restaurant’s recipes, and working in the garden.
