DOJ’s ‘Operation Not Forgotten’ brings new progress to cold cases

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — In the U.S. Attorney’s office in downtown Albuquerque, pictures of Zachariah Juwaun Shorty were propped up on a table with signs that read “My mom is my voice” and “Justice for Zachariah Juwaun Shorty.”

Zachariah’s mother, Vangie Randall-Shorty, made sure to keep her late son’s music playing softly in the background.

“Zach loved music from when he was just, you know, a little boy. But as he became an adult, I had lost my oldest son, Christian, in a car accident, and music was one of Zach’s ways of expressing the loss of his brother,” she said…
