Dover Retires K9 Shelby; Lowers Speed Limit; Approves Liquor-By-the-Drink For Mama Mea’s

The Town of Dover Board of Mayor and Aldermen met at City Hall November 10 with all members present. First on the agenda, Police Chief Scott Bickford gave the police and fire report for the month of October. “We had 245 traffic stops, we issued 107 citations,151 warnings, four arrests, 125 complaints and three canine deployments, with one of them positively alerting for meth when helping the Forest Service.” Bickford also said K9 Shelby and Officer Jody Batton visited Head Start and the Homestead Daycare. Additionally, Bickford said various officers and firefighters helped out with the Bass Tournament at Lick Creek and the Town of Dover Halloween festival October 25.

Bickford said the department has been focusing on speeders in residential areas in town, such as Natcor Drive, Wynns Ferry and Spring Street. He said they reached out to the public and asked about problem areas and some residents said they could park in their driveway to watch for speeders.

Bickford also thanked Dover Elementary Principal Bryan Saunders for giving him a certificate at the DES Veterans Day Program thanking him for serving in the military…
