Southern Pines man charged in prior theft at golf course

A Southern Pines man is facing charges after deputies recovered equipment that was allegedly stolen during a break-in at Dormie Club Golf Course, according to the Moore County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to the golf course on November 23 after several pieces of equipment were reported stolen from a secured maintenance area. Investigators followed leads to a nearby property, where they found and recovered all of the stolen items. The equipment was returned to Dormie Club.

During the investigation, deputies identified Jacob Armstrong, 27, of Southern Pines, as a suspect. Armstrong was arrested and charged with felony breaking and entering, felony larceny after breaking and entering, felony possession of stolen goods, multiple counts of felony larceny, including larceny of motor vehicles, possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, injury to personal property, and first-degree trespassing…
