On November 23, 2025, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office stopped a vehicle on Interstate 73/74 South near a rest area. Deputies reported detecting the smell of marijuana and conducted a search based on probable cause. The passenger, Alfred Cagle Jr., 44, refused to exit the vehicle and was arrested for non-compliance. Deputies found marijuana in the vehicle and later found more on Cagle during booking at the Randolph County Detention Center.
Cagle is charged with felony possession of a controlled substance in jail, misdemeanor marijuana possession, resisting a public officer, and two counts of communicating threats.
