Richmond police detained a group of juveniles at gunpoint on Monday afternoon after receiving a 911 call reporting a person with a gun, according to the Richmond Police Department.
According to the Richmond Police Department’s calls for service log, a Priority 1 call was reported at 3:37 p.m. from the 4400 block of Nevin Avenue. Videos circulating on social media show officers detaining the juveniles during the response. According to the department, the group had been passing the object around and examining it.
Because the item appeared to be a real firearm, officers conducted what they described as a high-risk detention to ensure safety. Officers later determined the object was a BB gun. The juveniles were released after the scene was secured, the department said…
