Rescue Mission of Roanoke shows off new shirt and medal design for 20th Dash

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — In just a few days, thousands will flock to downtown Roanoke to “move their feet so others can eat” for the Drumstick Dash, organized by the Rescue Mission.

This year’s 5K run, or walk, is special, as the dash turns 20 years old, something the mission wanted to emphasize in this year’s shirt and medal design.

“Runners love their medals, and they love their shirts. I mean, it’s just something that year after year they go back to,” Lisa Thompson, the director of Development and Communication at the Rescue Mission, said. “We really wanted to make sure that everything was pulled together for 2025. For our 20th anniversary, we wanted the medal to kind of match the shirt so people would be like, ‘oh, that’s my 20th year for the dash. No doubt.’”
