Nov. 25 (UPI) — Firefighters in Virginia came to the rescue of a deer that found its way into a retention pond and was unable to find a path out of the water.
The Fincastle Volunteer Fire Department’s Company 4 said on social media that the department was alerted to the plight of the stranded deer by a Botetourt County Sheriff’s Office animal control deputy.
Crews responded to the water retention pond near the Roanoke Cement plant and found the deer swimming in the algae-covered water.
Firefighters corralled the deer into a corner of the pond and lassoed the animal so it could be pulled out of the water…
