Detroit’s Thanksgiving parade returns Thursday for its 99th year, rolling down Woodward Avenue with new floats, celebrities and local flavor.
Why it matters: The nationally recognized parade is one of the city’s favorite traditions.
⏰ When and where: The 3-mile parade route starts near the DIA at Woodward Avenue and Kirby Street at 8:45am.
- The march south takes about 90 minutes and ends at Woodward and Congress Street.
- WDIV Local 4 will broadcast the event from 10am-noon.
🧑✈️ Grand marshals and celebrities: Mayor Mike Duggan and journalist and musician Devin Scillian are this year’s grand marshals.
- Comedian and actor Sam Richardson, Christopher “Shooter McGavin” McDonald and former Lions running back Dexter Bussey are among others who will be there.
🎭 What’s new: Eight floats built by The Parade Company.
- An opening performance of “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” from “The Lion King” musical set to perform here next March.
