Google announces new data center in Armstrong County

CLAUDE, Texas (KVII) — Google has announced plans to build a new data center on 1,300 acres near Claude, with construction already underway by Crusoe Energy since May.

Armstrong County Judge Adam Ensey highlighted the area’s appeal due to its wind energy production.

“We are a net exporter of electricity from the Texas Panhandle through the ERCOT grid,” Ensey said. “As you know, in the Texas Panhandle, we’re on the Southwest Power Pool, so we get our electricity from a different location than this data center will.
