ASD going ahead with plans to put childcare in empty classrooms

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – Declining enrollment has left some Anchorage schools with empty classrooms. ASD’s Chief Operating Officer, Jim Anderson, said the space could be put to good use helping to ease one of the city’s most pressing problems: not enough childcare.

“It really is causing an issue all across our city because we are a childcare desert,” Anderson said. “Eagle River, same thing, Chugiak, there simply isn’t enough childcare.”
