Tara Reid Hospitalized After Alleged Drink Tampering Incident in Chicago
Chicago, IL – Actress Tara Reid, known for her role in “American Pie,” was reportedly hospitalized in Chicago after an incident at a hotel bar where she believes her drink was tampered with. The actress was in the city for Comic Con when the event unfolded.
According to video footage obtained by TMZ, Reid appeared visibly disoriented and was seen slurring her words as hotel staff assisted her into a wheelchair. Another clip showed paramedics removing her from the hotel on a stretcher, with onlookers offering words of encouragement.
A source close to Reid stated that the incident began when she went to the hotel bar for a drink and a cigarette. After stepping outside for a smoke, she returned to find a napkin covering her glass of wine, which she did not recall placing there. The source claims Reid took two sips of the wine before losing consciousness and waking up in the hospital.
Reid’s agent reportedly picked her up from the hospital, and they have since returned to Los Angeles. The source emphasized Reid’s concern about people leaving their drinks unattended and described her as “traumatized by the incident.”
A representative for Reid confirmed that she is in the process of filing a police report regarding the alleged tampering. “Tara is recovering and asks for privacy during this traumatic time,” her representative stated.
“She also urges everyone to be careful, watch your drinks and never leave them unattended, as this can happen to anyone. She will not be making further comments at this stage.”
However, police officials informed People magazine on Monday that a report had not yet been filed by Reid.
This incident comes after Reid candidly discussed the “bullying” she has experienced throughout her career in a 2023 interview. At the time, she expressed her desire for people to see a different side of her, beyond the “party girl” image from “American Pie.”
Reid, now 47, stated, “I’m a woman and I want them to see that I am strong, and I do have a heart and I do care.” She also admitted that the negative attention led her to take a temporary hiatus from the entertainment industry.
