‘Vote like lives depend on it’: Montgomery police chief slams constitutional carry ‘loophole’

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – Montgomery Police Chief James Graboys released updated crime statistics and called for the close of a constitutional carry “loophole” Tuesday during his monthly media briefing.

The chief strongly advocated for requiring “legal identification when concealing a weapon,” and spoke at length on how that requirement not being on the books affects the department.

“This loophole prevents officers from being able to fully use the persons forbidden database in a proactive way to hold violators accountable,” Graboys said. “It puts the public at risk, it puts officers at risk, and it undermines the very foundation of responsible gun ownership.”…
