Member of large gun trafficking organization operating in Montgomery County and beyond sentenced 15-30 years

Robert Otis Cooper III, 26, of Philadelphia, was sentenced to 15 to 30 years in prison for his participation in a gun trafficking network which illegally obtained and circulated nearly 100 guns on the streets of Montgomery County and beyond between 2022 and 2023, The Reporter said.

Cooper’s charges include corrupt organizations, making false statements on federal firearms purchase forms, dealing in proceeds of unlawful activities and conspiracy in connection. He was among eight people charged in 2023 with participating in the network which purchased 94 firearms and attempted to purchase an additional 23 firearms in counties across the state, then illegally resold them throughout the Southeastern region of Pennsylvania.

Authorities said about half of the illegal gun purchases and attempted purchases were completed at gun shows statewide, including at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks. Roughly 52 of the firearms are still on the streets, The Reporter said…
