Lucas County commissioners approved a $208.8 million budget that comes $12.1 million short of revenue expectations and funds salary increases for the sheriff’s department among other modest increases for several departments.
Commissioners said the budget passed Tuesday comes amid uncertainty surrounding the impacts of federal cuts to social safety-net programs and rising costs of health care and utilities.
“The cost of doing business is rising for all of us … and on top of that we need to prepare for the impact the Big Beautiful Bill and the future property tax reform would have on our ability to deliver core, essential services to our county,” Commissioner Lisa Sobecki said…
