Men charged with stealing copper wire from Verizon poles in Newark

Two men are charged with stealing copper wire from Verizon utility poles around the Newark area.

The first theft happened Sept. 6 along Possum Park Road. The other two incidents happened Nov. 4 along Cornell Drive and Nov. 9 along Chapman Road.

The three incidents caused an estimated $30,000 worth of losses in materials and damages, and one caused a Verizon network outage, according to Delaware State Police…
