Residents are invited to pay their respects to Elzie Odom, Arlington’s first Black mayor and city council member, in a public viewing from 2 to 5 p.m. Wednesday at the Arlington Council Chamber on West Abram Street. Odom, a well-respected community leader, died last week at 96.
His funeral service will be held at noon Saturday at Mount Olive Baptist Church on West Sanford Street. There will also be a visitation period beforehand, from 10 a.m. until the service.
