Exploring the history of the Napoleon House restaurant in New Orleans

This construction of the historic Napoleon House at 500 Chartres Street in the French Quarter of New Orleans, Louisiana, was completed in 1797. At that time, it was the residence of Nicholas (or Nicolas) Girod (1751-1840), who was the mayor of New Orleans. Girod and his brothers, Claude François and Jean François, migrated to North America in the 1770s.
