USPS honors Oklahoma City resident for 65 years of service

OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLA (KOKH) — The United States Postal Service is honoring Oklahoma City resident Martha Lane for her 65 years of service with USPS.

Lane started working with USPS on July 9, 1960, as a distribution clerk in Oklahoma City, earning only $2.16 an hour. Lane left college behind and entered the predominantly male field with only two other female employees. Lane’s tasks included sorting mail by hand, years before sorting equipment was utilized.

Lane has held many positions during her time with USPS, including general clerk, accounting clerk, procurement assistant, property/supply assistant, Officer In Charge in Langston, OK, and Postmaster of the Nicoma Park Post Office.
