TOLEDO, Iowa (KCRG) – A driver was injured after police say a vehicle crashed into a steep culvert near Toledo on Monday. At approximately 4:14 p.m., authorities responded to the 2800 block of N Avenue, just outside Toledo, after two farmers working in a nearby field reported that a vehicle went into the ditch. Police say the vehicle had gone off the road and hit a steep culvert near a creek. The crash site was not visible unless walking to the edge of the culvert. Deputies applied tourniquets and provided emergency care for the driver’s severe injuries. Authorities said the tourniquets helped prevent the situation from getting worse. The driver was taken to a local hospital; the driver’s condition is unknown.
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – A Cedar Rapids man is facing charges after police say he sexually abused a woman while giving her a massage. 23-year-old Jaden Wood was charged with third-degree sexual abuse, assault with intent to commit sex abuse, and two counts of general assault. The incident took place at Hands in Harmony Massage and Spa in Cedar Rapids. Police say Wood allegedly touched the victim inappropriately during the massage. The victim requested that the massage be focused to her back and Wood never received consent for the acts.
DES MOINES, Iowa (Gray Media Iowa Capitol Bureau/KCRG) – The Iowa Department of Administrative Services has denied a holiday event hosted by the Satanic Temple at the state capitol. The department also denied the display last year. Former director of the department and gubernatorial candidate Adam Steen spoke at the Capitol on Monday following the decision. Steen praised Governor Kim Reynolds and the Department of Administrative Services for their decision not to allow the event. Steen announced the decision in front of dozens of families at the Capitol. He said the ritual would harm Iowa’s youth. The group’s leader said the event would have been family-friendly and followed the group’s seven tenets.
