Boise Foothills Trail Closures Begin December 1 to Protect Local Wildlife and Prevent Trail Damage

Starting December 1, 2025, the Ridge to Rivers partnership, led by the City of Boise, will begin seasonal closures on several trails in the Boise Foothills. These closures are part of an annual plan to protect trails and wildlife habitats during winter. The goal is to prevent trail damage from muddy conditions and to support native plants and animals during the winter months.

Four main locations will close starting December 1. The Landslide Loop Trail #70, a two-mile trail above Hidden Springs, will close until March 31 to protect wildlife. The Hawkins Range Reserve, off N. Bogus Basin Road, including the Hawkins Loop and Harrow Trail, will close to all access until April 30 to protect wildlife corridors. The 8th Street Extension Road will close to vehicles from the 8th Street Motorcycle Trailhead to the Boise Ridge until May 15. A locked gate will block access to maintain the unpaved road. The Sideshow Trail #46, a 1.7-mile mountain bike trail, will close until March 31 to protect the trail surface and features.
