COS City Council approves 2026 City Budget

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs City Council announced that it has approved the 2026 City Budget on Nov. 25.

The City approved $427.3 million for the General Fund budget, which is a 2.5% or $11 million decrease from the 2025 budget. This decrease comes with additional efforts to offset the rising costs of contracts, health care, and other City obligations, for which the City departments say they have identified $31 million in savings via operational efficiency and targeted reductions.

The City also identified Colorado Springs’ top priorities as public safety, infrastructure, and essential community services. The official announcement about the budget says that the City seeks to invest in these priorities while also continuing to preserve sworn staffing levels, continuing road and drainage improvement projects, supporting homelessness response efforts, and maintaining day-to-day services for Colorado Springs residents…
