Asian community in Eugene anxious as bail decision for burglary suspect is postponed again

EUGENE, Ore. — The Asian community in Eugene is on the edge of their seats as they wait to see if a federal judge will release a man on bail who is facing conspiracy and burglary charges.

Last week a judge ruled that 27-year-old Derinson Martinez Grandas can be released but immediately put a stay on that decision while the government appeals.

On Tuesday, a different judge almost reversed that decision but ultimately decided to extend the hearing to Wednesday, Dec. 3 – the day of Grandas’ arraignment – before making a final ruling…
