Las Vegas police identify officer involved in attempted armed carjacking turned police shooting

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Police have identified the officer who was involved in an attempted armed carjacking that led to a Las Vegas police shooting in the central valley over the weekend.

On Sunday, Nov. 23, at around 12:25 p.m., officers with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department responded to a report of an attempted armed carjacking in an apartment complex in the 5100 block of Indian River Drive, near West Harmon Avenue and South Decatur Boulevard.

The suspect, later identified as Wade David Griffith, 38, was trying to carjack a victim in the area with a knife and threatened the victim with the knife, LVMPD Capt. Ryan Wiggins said.

When officers arrived at the front of the apartment complex, they located Griffith and gave him verbal commands to peacefully surrender however, he did not comply, according to Metro police…
