North Charleston council members address alleged assault during out-of-state trip

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – North Charleston city leaders met Tuesday night at City Hall for a council meeting, where, during part of the meeting, they addressed an alleged assault that occurred involving two council members.

Police in Salt Lake City are investigating after Councilman Michael Brown Jr., who represents District 7, was at a bar called the Lake Effect when he was allegedly assaulted around midnight on Friday, Nov. 21.

Brown Jr. claimed that when he filed the report with the Salt Lake City Police Department, an unidentified woman struck him in the groin and face, according to Sgt. Gregory Wilkin, a spokesperson for the department.
