Statehouse bill aims to curb fentanyl deaths with mandatory sentences

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — A new legislative effort at the Ohio Statehouse seeks to combat the spread of fentanyl by imposing mandatory minimum sentences on drug dealers.

The bill, which has already passed the House, mandates a minimum five-year sentence for anyone found guilty of causing a fentanyl-related death. The sentence would be in addition to any other charges for which they might be convicted.
