FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Traffic is backed up Wednesday south of downtown Fort Wayne due to a gas leak.
A section of Lafayette Street is shut down, with traffic being diverted around Leith Street a block south of Pontiac Street. The area to avoid appears to extend from Pontiac down to Oxford Street.
Sgt. Jonathan Cutler with the Fort Wayne Police Department told WANE 15 the water department was working in the area and hit a gas line. He said the affected portion of Lafayette Street is estimated to be closed for six hours, until around 5:45 p.m.
