Right before Christmas in 2023, a Harrisburg police detective showed up at Marilyn McFadden’s door with the news her 18-year-old son had been killed in a city alley.
Amari McFadden-Sowers was lured to the 1500 block of Ella Alley under pretenses late at night on Dec. 19, 2023. He was ambushed and shot nine times, his body left for a nearby resident to find when she left for work around 3 a.m. the next day.
