Passenger dead after Knoxville car chase, Tennessee trooper’s report says

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – One person is dead after a police chase in East Knoxville, according to a report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

It happened around 11 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 14, according to documents obtained by WVLT News, when a THP trooper tried to stop a car being driven by DeJaun Futrell at North Chestnut Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue. The report said Futrell cut off another car, almost causing a crash.

After the trooper activated their car’s emergency lights, Futrell drove off, the report said. It added that Futrell blew through stop lights and put other people at risk as he sped away…
