New Ramp Metering on US-101 On-Ramps in Marin and Sonoma Counties Starts December 2—What Local Drivers Need to Know

Caltrans, along with the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC), the Transportation Authority of Marin (TAM), and the Sonoma County Transportation and Climate Authorities (SCTCA), will activate 12 ramp meters on US-101 in Marin and Sonoma counties. The activation will start on Tuesday, December 2, 2025. Each ramp meter will be turned on as it is ready. The affected on-ramps are in Petaluma, Novato, Sausalito, and Mill Valley.

The ramp meters will operate on both northbound and southbound US-101. In Sonoma County, the on-ramps include North Old Redwood Highway, Petaluma Boulevard, Kastania Road, Lakeville Street, and E. Washington Street. In Marin County, the on-ramps are Shoreline Highway, Redwood Highway Frontage Road, De Long Avenue, Atherton Avenue, and San Antonio Road.

The meters will work Monday through Friday. In Sonoma County, both northbound and southbound meters will run from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. In Marin County, northbound meters will operate from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Southbound meters will be active from 5 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. The De Long Avenue, Atherton Avenue, and San Antonio ramps will be activated in early 2026 after construction is finished…
