U.S. Border Patrol agents from the Buffalo Sector recently continued Operation Bear Cave in the Syracuse area. The operation focused on Interstates 90 and 81 and took place from November 20 to November 23, 2024. Agents arrested five individuals who were identified as being in the country without legal status. Four of these individuals were operating commercial vehicles and held valid Commercial Driver Licenses (CDLs) from California, Indiana, and New Jersey. The fifth individual was not driving a commercial vehicle at the time of arrest.
The operation involved agents from the Wellesley Island and Oswego Stations. It also included support from ICE-Homeland Security Investigations and Enforcement and Removal Operations.
