Robert Irwin and Witney Carson Cha-Cha Their Way to “Dancing With the Stars” Victory!
After weeks of glitter, grueling rehearsals, and gravity-defying moves, a new duo has shimmied their way into the “Dancing With the Stars” winner’s circle! Wildlife conservationist Robert Irwin and his professional partner Witney Carson have officially claimed the coveted Mirrorball trophy for Season 34.
Talk about a family affair! Robert now joins his sister, Bindi Irwin, as a “DWTS” champion. Bindi previously took home the trophy in Season 21 back in 2015, making the Irwins quite the dancing dynasty.
The nail-biting finale saw Irwin and Carson face off against a talented field including social media sensations Alix Earle and Dylan Efron, seasoned actor Elaine Hendrix, and accomplished gymnast Jordan Chiles. The final night was a three-round spectacular, featuring a judges’ choice, the always-surprising instant dance challenge, and the show-stopping freestyle round. Irwin and Carson truly shone in the instant dance, earning a perfect score with their electrifying performance.
The ultimate champion was decided by a combination of the judges’ expert opinions and the crucial votes from the public. Despite battling injuries leading up to the grand finale, the duo powered through. Carson even shared on TikTok that both she and Irwin were “kind of falling apart,” with Irwin himself admitting during rehearsals that his body was on the verge of breaking.
Even a “Crocodile Hunter’s” son can find dancing a tough beast to tame! After his instant dance performance, Irwin quipped, “I catch crocodiles, and a crocodile has never managed to screw up my ribs like that. Dancing is hard.”
In the end, their dedication and dazzling performances paid off, with Irwin and Carson securing an aggregated judges’ score of 29 points.
