Newport News man charged with armed robbery of French Bulldogs

CAROLINE COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) — A Newport News man was arrested Tuesday in connection with the armed robbery of four French Bulldogs in Ladysmith, according to the Caroline County Sheriff’s Office.

On Nov. 23, deputies responded to the parking lot of the Ladysmith Food Lion after the seller of one French Bulldog was reportedly being confronted by the buyer at gunpoint. The seller reported the buyer held him at gunpoint while stealing all four puppies, which were valued at $4,000 each. He also stole a firearm the seller had in their vehicle and allegedly sped away with the animals.

Following an intensive investigation, investigators quickly identified the suspect as 37-year-old Ronald Gaylord James, and tracked him to a residence in Hampton…
