Earthquake rattles Hawaiʻi Island

HONOLULU (KHON2) — A magnitude-4.6 earthquake struck Hawaiʻi Island during the late night hours of Nov. 25, the USGS reported.

The earthquake occurred approximately nine miles south-southeast of Fern Forest, approximately three miles below sea level at 11:49 p.m.

Mauna Loa and Kīlauea volcanoes were not affected by the earthquake, experts said.
