American Woman Beatrice Busby Turns 110

Beatrice Busby, a resident of Boston, Massachusetts, is celebrating her 110th birthday today. She was visited by the Mayor of Boston, Michelle Wu.

Busby was born in Boston on 27 November 1915. She was baptized at the Peoples Baptist Church of Boston in May 1925 and was later married there as well. Beginning in 1924 and continuing throughout most of her life, she was an active member of the church—first as a congregant, then as a worker, and always a faithful worshipper who rarely missed a Sunday. She even encouraged her parents to join the congregation.

Busby had one son, who passed away around 1994. She worked as an administrative assistant, often holding three jobs at once as a single mother to support her son and put him through college. At age 80, she ran into an old friend in a store. They fell in love, married, and shared 20 years together before he passed away from cancer…
