There’s a troubling scam targeting the elder community. The Marion County Sheriff’s Department wants to spread the word. Scammers are calling, claiming to be from the local sheriff’s department, and saying that there’s a warrant for your arrest!
To “clear up” this warrant, they ask you to buy prepaid cards like Green Dot or Apple Cards. Once you provide them with the card numbers, they vanish with your money! Unfortunately, many of these scams are run from overseas, making it hard to get your money back.
