TRENTON, Ga. — City leaders say a lack of transparency allowed a major dog hoarding case in Trenton to spiral out of control, leaving more than 200 animals living in severely neglected conditions.
The case, which came to light earlier this year, involved roughly 260 animals, mostly dogs, found in a home on Sell’s Lane. Investigators say the animals were living in deplorable conditions, with officers documenting filth, feces, and evidence of poor care.
Neighbors say they often heard the sounds of animals in distress but could not see inside the home because the blinds were always drawn.
Vice Mayor Monda Wooten told us that city officials regret how the situation was handled.
