On the Friday after Thanksgiving, a city in the Sandhills of North Carolina will transform into a magical, Victorian-era Christmas wonderland. For the past 26 years, downtown Fayetteville has celebrated A Dickens Holiday, bringing to life the story of Ebenezer Scrooge and Tiny Tim.
Costumed carollers, town criers, Father Christmas, and actors from A Christmas Carol roam the streets of Fayetteville throughout the afternoon. In the evening, thousands of lights twinkle as people join a candlelight procession through downtown, which culminates in a lighting ceremony.
While the street entertainment is free to the public, merrymakers can also buy tickets to The Fezziwig Ball at the Skyview Ballroom. The ball is from 6 to 9 p.m., with free dance instruction earlier in the day. Festive, Victorian-inspired dress is encouraged…
