On November 24, 2025, the Fayetteville City Council held its regular meeting at City Hall in Fayetteville, North Carolina. The meeting started at 6:30 p.m. and included announcements, recognitions, and updates for residents. Mayor Mitch Colvin, Mayor Pro Tem Kathy Jensen, and council members Mario Benavente, Courtney Banks-McLaughlin, Lynne Greene, Derrick Thompson, and others attended.
During the opening, several council members received honors. Cumberland County Board of Commissioners Chairman Kirk deViere gave the County Crest and Coin to Mayor Pro Tem Jensen, Benavente, and Banks-McLaughlin. Mayor Colvin presented the Key to the City and Coin to Jensen, Banks-McLaughlin, and Benavente for their service. Council member Benavente gave a proclamation to the Korean Presbyterian Church for Kimchi Day. Mayor Colvin issued a proclamation for Native American Heritage Month. Council member Lynne Greene gave a Community Award to Benavente from Fayetteville Freedom for All.
City Manager Douglas Hewett gave an update on city services for Thanksgiving. He said city offices would close on Thursday, and solid waste and recycling schedules would change. Thursday’s solid waste would be collected on Wednesday, and recycling on Saturday. FAST Transit and recreation centers would reopen Friday. Dr. Hewett also reminded the public about the Mayor and City Council Inauguration on December 1 at Fayetteville State University.
