A 49-year-old man identified as John F. Pollock is facing a series of grave charges, including attempted first-degree murder, following an incident in Maryville that left another man severely injured. As reported by WBIR, the Maryville Police Department (MPD) and other emergency services responded to a call in the early hours of November 20 at 1601 East Lamar Alexander Parkway to find 56-year-old William Flynn with visible head injuries.
Initially, Flynn conveyed to the officers that he had fallen, but a contrasting account has since surfaced. A family member approached the police for an update on the investigation, revealing on November 21 that Flynn had been assaulted and was suffering from an active brain bleed, according to WVLT News. This family member also disclosed that Flynn’s vehicle, a 2015 Honda Pilot, had been stolen.
Consequently, John Pollock was arrested and charged with numerous serious offenses. Alongside attempted first-degree murder, Pollock is accused of aggravated robbery, aggravated kidnapping, aggravated assault, tampering with evidence, and theft of a motor vehicle valued in excess of $1,000. Pollock’s connection to the crime became more pronounced when he presented himself at the Pigeon Forge Police Department, where he claimed to have murdered a man in Maryville the prior night. This admission prompted Pigeon Forge police to alert MPD, which then led to Pollock’s arrest, as noted by Newstalk987…
