Naples Zoo Welcomes Seven New Flamingos to Growing Flock

Naples Zoo in Florida has added seven new American flamingos to its flock. The zoo now has 19 flamingos in total. The new birds include two males and five females. They came from Fort Worth Zoo, which also provided the zoo’s original flamingos. Most of the new flamingos are between 1 and 3 years old. One is a 16-year-old female.

The zoo aims to create a more stable and balanced group. The goal is to reach a breeding flock size of about 40 birds. Dr. Kelsie Stovall, staff veterinarian, said the larger group will improve the birds’ social structure and support breeding. Visitors can now see the larger flock.
