ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Wednesday night before Thanksgiving is a big going-out night for many. Lots of people are traveling home and are looking to reconnect with friends out on the town. Some law enforcement agencies refer to it as “Black Wednesday” because it is one of the most dangerous nights of the year for alcohol-related incidents.
Police say there is zero tolerance for drunk and impaired drivers. The Rochester Police Department says it will have more officers out on the road targeting impaired and reckless drivers. Authorities are urging drivers to stay alert and make safe decisions before getting behind the wheel.
“We are looking to keep the roads safe. We are specifically targeting drivers out there who are not safe on the roadways. We are not taking away everyone’s ability to have a good time and enjoy each other; it is just coupling that with the driving is where we have the issue,” said Officer Joseph Bonacci of the Rochester Police Department…
