‘I couldn’t move’: Crossing guard severely injured after bike crash in Sarasota

SARASOTA, Fla. (WFLA) — A crossing guard at Lakeview Elementary School was rushed to the hospital after a collision with a bike rider during the school day. Judy Azar, 83, suffered a broken shoulder and wrist during the crash.

“I just want to be back with my children. It breaks my heart,” Azar said.

Azar, who had worked at the school in Sarasota for more than three years, was helping children cross the street when she was struck.

“I stepped in front of the kids, and the bike hit me between the legs. I was on the ground… and all of a sudden, I heard people screaming. I couldn’t move, there was so much pain,” Azar said…
