A U-Haul van crashed into a tree on Interstate 95 in central Maine Tuesday morning, killing a passenger and shutting the highway as police searched for the driver, who fled, officials said.
The van flew through the air and slammed into the tree off the highway in Clinton, near mile marker 138, about 7 a.m., Maine State Police said. Inside, troopers found the passenger, who was critically injured.
That person was pronounced dead after being rushed to a local hospital, police said. They haven’t shared any identifying information about them…
