80-year-old man killed in hit-and-run crash on I-77

RICHFIELD, Ohio (WJW) – An 80-year-old man from Massillon was killed in a hit-and-run crash involving multiple vehicles on I-77 just days before Thanksgiving.

According to the Summit County Medical Examiner, the man who was pronounced dead at the scene, has been identified Terry Gribble, 80, of Massillon.

Officials said that at about 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 25, Gribble was traveling southbound on I-77 in Richfield when he was involved in the crash.

According to police, initial reports indicated a 2022 Honda Civic being operated by a 62-year-old Akron woman, a 2025 Subaru Outback being operated by a 62-year-old Akron woman, and a 2012 Nissan Sentra being operated by the 80-year-old Massillon man were stopped in the center lane of Interstate 77 when a 2021 Nissan Rogue struck the Sentra, then the Outback, then fled the scene of the accident.
