An attack on a CTA train has a local outreach group taking action. Volunteers with the nonprofit Violence Interrupters said they’re ready to patrol trains themselves to stop violence before it starts.
The group said it plans to launch a new safety pilot program as early as Thursday. The Violence Interrupters said they can’t wait for the city or CTA to make security changes on the mass transit system, not after a woman was set on fire on a Blue Line train in the Loop last week.
On Thanksgiving, they’re rolling out their own volunteer patrols, as 10 members of the Violence Interrupters will patrol the CTA. They did a test run on Wednesday, handing out flyers…
