OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – Making Thanksgiving dinner for the family can be stressful. Now imagine preparing Thanksgiving dinner for hundreds and hundreds of people.
That’s what’s going on at Omaha’s Open Door Mission, where Chef Kenneth Vahlenkamp and his team have been preparing all week for the 300 to 400 people who will have their Thanksgiving Day meal there.
“We know a lot of guests are estranged from family and loved ones during this time, and so whatever we can do to just kind of help with that transition and just brighten their day is something we enjoy doing,” Vahlenkamp said.
