USD 259 asks for Christmas gifts for homeless students

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Wichita Public Schools is asking for the public’s help in making the holidays brighter for homeless children in the district.

The district is asking for gifts to give to the students in the McKinney-Vento Homeless program. Last year, the program served more than 2,000 students, according to WPS.

“Every single gift brings hope, dignity, and joy to a child who may not otherwise experience the magic of the holidays this year,” Kowonia Bowen, the McKinney-Vento program specialist, said in a news release.

The district is asking for board games, dolls and action figures, art supplies, gift cards, and more to give to students. Items can be purchased at local retailers, or you can shop online through the program’s Amazon Wish List…
