Albuquerque residents push back against proposed city zoning changes

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The City of Albuquerque is looking at changing zoning rules to improve the housing shortage, but some residents are concerned the proposed changes will hurt their neighborhoods.

The Integrated Development Ordinance, or IDO, contains the city’s zoning rules and is updated every two years. We spoke with one neighborhood association who says some proposals could make their quiet streets, overcrowded.

“We don’t want to change our character either, we want to preserve that character. We think that is a benefit to Albuquerque, it makes us unique,” said Loretta Naranjo Lopez, President of the Santa Barbara Martineztown Neighborhood Association…
