KEARNS, Utah (ABC4) — The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced a large donation to support Utah’s Hindu community.
On Nov. 22, 2025, Elder Matthew S. Holland of the Seventy said the Church would be donating $50,000 to the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, an international Hindu organization led by His Holiness Mahant Swami Maharaj.
“This gift is a symbol of the shared vision between BAPS and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints — our mutual commitment to strengthening family, uplifting community, and encouraging moral and ethical living,” Kirtan Patel, a volunteer with BAPS, said.
The group has a temple, or mandir, located in Kearns, Utah. The mandir was originally used as a Latter-day Saint meetinghouse before Church leaders presented the building to BAPS. In September, the building was reopened as a sacred Hindu space.

“We hope this contribution supports your mission to serve as a center of worship and cultural connection for Hindus and all people,” Elder Holland said. “Our two faiths share a commitment to strengthening spirituality, nurturing families, and uplifting the weary through humanitarian work.”…
